Rename[[edit source]]

It seems to me that since the system for K9s is pretty set in stone and this version of K9 came into being within the narrative directly after K9 Mark IV, there should be no problem renaming this one K9 Mark V. The logic has been used before on-site, we presume that the K9 seen in PROSE: Inter-Galactic Cat, Conundrum, Planet of Paradise, Just a Small Problem and COMIC: Plague World are Mark III. Why? Because our logic for their setting is after Romana leaves with Mark II. So it has to be the third K9, and thus he's added to the page.

I think this would be a smart continuation of the precedent, this K9 is built by the Doctor right after K9 Mark IV leaves with Sarah... So it's K9 Mark V. There's no reason the naming or logic would be different. OS25🤙☎️ 06:34, January 10, 2020 (UTC)

Going to need some convincing here. While it'd be narratively satisfying if that were the case, is there any suggestion, let alone confirmation, that the Tenth Doctor built this K9 following the events of School Reunion? Couldn't he have just built him in a previous life, and merely taken him out of storage/powered him up?
Alternatively, who's to say he didn't pay Frederick Marius a call, with this K9 coming from a completely parallel lineage to the classic Doctors' K9s? Or hell — how sure are we that this isn't one of the classic K9s who got some work done, rather than an entirely new model or incarnation?
There are many possibilities here.--Scrooge MacDuck 19:39, October 3, 2020 (UTC)
I want to say that firstly, I agree with Scrooge on the above, and secondly, an actual K9 Mark V was introduced in the recent novel The Wonderful Doctor of Oz. You could say "maybe they're the same" but there's no evidence to this, in fact only evidence to the contrary as Mark V was left unfinished until this story. So I don't think the rename is right, and that's even if we were to disregard the new novel. Chubby Potato 10:48, 2 July 2021 (UTC)
