here here, but could it be that the masters link was transfered to the machine with the diamond, hence why they master was about to die. Then again RTD screwed up the finale a bit so i dont think we will know unless he put it in his book coming out this week. again i side with you, but i wanted to pose an alternative in the spirit of disscussion [[User:Geffe71|Geffe71]] 20:08, January 9, 2010 (UTC) | |||

Rassilon was about to kill The Master with his glove, and is stopped by The Doctor when he points a gun at him.
When The Doctor points his gun at The Master, The Master notes the link is in his head and killing him would send the Time Lords back...
