As you seem to be a recent addition to the ranks of Tardis Wiki editors (in terms of being a regular editor; I see you have been dropping in for two years), it's quite understandable you wouldn't know about this yet, but from one editor to another: this Wiki has a rather complicated and numerous host of policies for what images you can upload and how, which I'd recommend you read through. Thanks for your edits! We hope you'll keep on editing with us. This is a great time to have joined us, because now you can play the Game of Rassilon with us and win cool stuff! Well, okay, badges. That have no monetary value. And that largely only you can see. But still: they're cool!
We've got a couple of important quirks for a Wikia wiki, so let's get them out of the way first.
British English, please
We generally use British English round these parts, so if you're American, please be sure you set your spell checker to BrEng, and take a gander at our spelling cheat card.
Spoilers aren't cool
We have a strict definition of "spoiler" that you may find a bit unusual. Basically, a spoiler, to us, is anything that comes from a story which has not been released yet. So, even if you've got some info from a BBC press release or official trailer, it basically can't be referenced here. In other words, you gotta wait until the episode has finished its premiere broadcast to start editing about its contents. Please check the spoiler policy for more details.
Other useful stuff
Aside from those two things, we also have some pages that you should probably read when you get a chance, like:
- the listing of all our help, policy and guideline pages
- our Manual of Style
- our image use policy
- our user page policy
- a list of people whose job it is to help you
If you're brand new to wiki editing — and we all were, once! — you probably want to check out these tutorials at Wikipedia, the world's largest wiki:
Remember that you should always sign your comments on talk and vote pages using four tildes like this:Thanks for becoming a member of the TARDIS crew! If you have any questions, see the Help pages, add a question to one of the Forums or ask on my talk page. CzechOut ☎ 16:03, July 11, 2018 (UTC)
Existing articlesedit source
Hi. Please do some research before creating articles to see if they already exist. We don't need duplicates. Thanks. --DCLM ☎ 18:42, February 10, 2020 (UTC)
Blockedit source
As User:Shambala108 warned you in her last edit summary. it is absolutely an act of vandalism to edit or delete someone else's comments on "your" talk page. For this, you have been blocked for the period of a week. Please read through the cited policy in the mean time. Alternatively, as per the same policy, note that you "may certainly archive your talk page according to our archiving policy". OncomingStorm12th (talk) 15:59, April 15, 2020 (UTC)
Blanking articlesedit source
Unrelated to the block, but also important, don't blank an article. Not if it needs deletion. But specially, as you did at Calapians, which merely needed renaming. Preserving the edit history of articles is essential to the functioning of the wiki. In the future, just add a Speedy rename to the page (which was already present at the time of your blanking) and wait until an admin does the moving. Markarian imageedit source
Hello! Just dropping in to elaborate on my having replaced your image at "Markarian" with another. (Rassilon knows it took me a while to get used to them, but most of these rules are there for good reason.)
In this case, your image was in PNG rather than JPG format, it was higher than it was wide, and it was over 100ko in size. Good job on the to-the-point filename, though. A lot of new users get that wrong as well — and you didn't!
Again, I am not an admin, and even if I were, you wouldn't be in trouble for a first offence like this, I should think. 's just a friendly heads-up. --Scrooge MacDuck ☎ 18:14, May 7, 2020 (UTC)
