Proteus particles were particles found in the presence of shapeshifter DNA. They were possibly produced in the proteus gland. (TV: Something Borrowed) When a Gizou was killed by a Sycorax, the Tenth Doctor found proteus particles in its remains. (COMIC: Agent Provocateur)
