- The Phantom Menace introduced the characters of Jar Jar Binks and Diva Shaliqua, versions of whom were revealed to exist within the DWU in Forever Autumn and Sil and the Devil Seeds of Arodor, respectively.
- Among the actors who appeared in The Phantom Menace were Hugh Quarshie, Warwick Davis, Silas Carson, Brian Blessed, Andy Secombe, Celia Imrie, Lindsay Duncan, Peter Serafinowicz, Toby Longworth and Richard Armitage.
- At Steven Spielberg's suggestion, George Lucas featured E.T.'s species in the film.
