Jim Gray got credit for both conceiving the story and co-writing the script of the Torchwood television story Escape to LA. His career seems to date only back to the mid-2000s, when he was a writer's assistant and researcher on Crossing Jordan. He also wrote Water & Power and Robbing Hood for Pushing Daisies, and an episode of In Plain Sight, prior to his work on Torchwood: Miracle Day.

In getting a "story by" credit on Escape to LA, he became exceptional, since the credit has almost never been used in any BBC or BBC Wales-made episode set in the Doctor Who universe. Only Kit Pedler before him managed the feat, back in the mid-1960s.
