Mr Parley-Chin (PROSE: Biography) was Vincent Elven Wishbone's 1968 concept album based on The Hobbit. (PROSE: The B.O Bank Holiday Special!)
Vincent wrote and recorded the album while squatting in North London. It had a psychedelic sound inspired by hippie music. However, J. R. R. Tolkien denied Vince the rights to his work, (PROSE: Biography) so the references to The Hobbit were replaced with material about pixies. (PROSE: The B.O Bank Holiday Special!) The album was ultimately released in 1968, with the lead single "Pixies All Around Me" receiving some air time and sales, (PROSE: Biography) including a performance on The Bryan Only Show.
In 1972, after Vincent achieved commercial success as "Vince Cosmos", he appeared again on The Bryan Only Show and Bryan surprised him by playing a black and white clip of Vincent's first appearance and performance of "Pixies All Around Me". Vince insisted that the song had been expunged from his back-catalgue and denied the rumour that his old record company would be re-releasing the song to capitalise on his success; (PROSE: The B.O Bank Holiday Special!) however, the company did re-release the album, and it charted as a novelty record. (PROSE: Biography)
