The SS Bernice was a 20th century cargo ship.

History[[edit] | [edit source]]

On one voyage, the Bernice was sailing to Bombay on 2 June 1926. Among the passengers on board were Major Daly and his daughter, Claire Daly. Two days later, the ship vanished in the Indian Ocean. The mystery of the ship's disappearance was considered a variation on the Mary Celeste mystery.

Miniscope[[edit] | [edit source]]

In truth, the ship was abducted for display inside Vorg's miniscope. There they were visited by the Third Doctor and Jo Grant, who thought it real, as they had been subjected to hypnotic conditioning which would prevent them from growing wise to the truth and cause them to unwittingly repeat the same series of events in perpetuity if left undisturbed. Vorg used an aggrometer to affect the hostility of the Bernice's crew, resulting in John Andrews threatening the Doctor's life and chasing him around the ship.

Some Drashigs who escaped their area of the miniscope attacked the Bernice. The crew fought back to no avail. With help from Vorg, the Doctor returned all the lifeforms in the miniscope to their original places in time and space. The ship was returned to the Indian Ocean in 1926.
