The Atlanta Kidnap Affair was a Stingray comic printed in TV Century 21 in 1965.
The story was a crossover with the Doctor Who universe. As well as resolving the cliffhanger from the previous story Curse of the Crustavons, it also tied-in to the multi-series "Space War" story arc, which focused on a war between 2060s humanity and the inhabitants of the planet Astra, first mentioned in The Rescue. The conclusion of this story led into the events of the next issue of TV Century 21, particularly Assassins Escape! and Stingray, which both heavily involved the crew of the titular submarine.
Summary[[edit] | [edit source]]
to be added
Characters[[edit] | [edit source]]
Worldbuilding[[edit] | [edit source]]
- The House of Lemoy is the secret headquarters of Titan's surface agent, X20.
- A sea cavern accessible by an elevator with a push of a button exists beneath the X20's house.
- Seat tubes carry Troy, Phones, and Marina from Stingray into the standby lounge at Marineville.
- Troy visits the Shore Home in his new ultra-powered hovercar.
- Aquaphibians serve Titan as his minions.
- Troy battles several sharks in the water with only a knife. Observing from afar, Atlanta believes there to be no hope left.
- Titan orders Terror Fish Squadrons Twenty and Twenty-Seven to destroy Troy, Phones, and Atlanta.
- Troy stays in hospital for a week because of injuries sustained to his leg.
Story notes[[edit] | [edit source]]
- Like most of TV Century 21's The Daleks comic stories from the same era, this comic serial was not given a title in the pages of TV Century 21 during its original printing; the title instead comes from later reference sources.
Continuity[[edit] | [edit source]]
- Titan orders X20 to kidnap Atlanta from the beach where she was painting so she can be used as bait to capture Troy. (COMIC: Curse of the Crustavons)
- Troy and Phones have just finished their report on "that Brazilian affair". (COMIC: Curse of the Crustavons, PROSE: Jungle Terror!, Stingray Hunts Aliens)
- Troy asks Commander Shore if there is any fresh news on the Kaplan's assassination. He tells him that Colonel Zodiac is still on the case and making progress. (COMIC: Assassination! et al.)
