The ghifghoni were a flying species which were native to Venus. They had five clawed-feet and achieved their flight through the use of their rotor membranes. Wild ghifghoni lived in Bikugih while another type, blue in colour, were used for sending long-distance messages. They hunted the small Minifih.

Afhighid Kontojij kept these blue ghifghoni as pets, including two which he called Serepihij, Miraghoni. He fed them kirimbi nuts. Having foretold the threat posed by the Sou(ou)shi, Kontojij used memory paste to send his ghifghoni out carrying a message for Jilet Mrak-ecado. Most of the flyers died on route, but Serepihij managed to deliver the letter, which arrived in the hands of the young Venusians Anaghil and Vivojkhil.

Serepihij died shortly after landing. Miraghoni, on the other hand, did not eat the memory paste, and so stayed behind at Kontojij's house. After Kontojij died, Miraghoni was adopted by Gantohi Ruribeg. (PROSE: Venusian Lullaby)
