The other composite humanoid slave, "Uncle" received "the spine and the kidneys." On his blog, The Doctor's Wife scriptwriter Neil Gaiman stated that before he began writing the first draft, he wanted to make sure the idea of the Corsair was okay with series show runner Steven Moffat before he became fixed in the story, so he sent him an email with a piece of dialogue between the Doctor and Amy in which the Doctor discussed the Corsair. In this draft, the Doctor explained that the Corsair did not have a name and used to travel, exploring the limits of time and space. The Doctor said that when he was twelve he had asked the Corsair if he could travel with him and act as his "assistant", but the Corsair had just laughed.

Steven Moffat replied that he wanted the Corsair to be less like the Doctor because the Doctor "does what he does for reasons too vast and terrible to relate".

According to The Brilliant Book 2012, a book that contains non-narrative information: the Ouroboros tattoo trademark of the Corsair — a snake eating its own tail, symbolising eternity — moved around the Corsair's body with each regeneration. Although she denied ever having fought the Daleks, she was spotted in her seventh incarnation on Clarkor Nine when the Dalek scout ship arrived. The Seventh Corsair was a female incarnation of the Renegade Time Lord known as the Corsair, who travelled with a parrot as her companion. On at least two occasions, she opposed the Daleks, something the Corsair did rarely, although on neither occasion did she face them directly.

Biography[[edit] | [edit source]]

This incarnation of the Corsair was "spotted" on Clarkor Nine on the night a Dalek scout ship landed there. Sneaking aboard, she detached the nine Dalek occupants' manipulator arms and gunsticks and then welded them together into "a shape that meant something very rude in Skarosian". (PROSE: Eleven Things You Probably Didn't Know About the Corsair)

As a favour for the First Doctor, the Corsair travelled to the City Obsidian in the Imperial Edifice of Infinite Steps to steal the Hand of Omega. Although pursued by troop ships belonging to the Supreme Leader, she escaped with the Hand of Omega and managed to deliver it to the First Doctor prior to him leaving Gallifrey as instructed. However, her Parrot companion did leave a single blue feather behind, which was discovered by the Supreme Leader. (PROSE: One Virtue, and a Thousand Crimes) The Doctor subsequently buried the Hand of Omega on 1963 Earth, setting in motion a centuries-long plan to destroy the Daleks. (TV: Remembrance of the Daleks, et al)

Appearance[[edit] | [edit source]]
