The Obscurantist (or Virus Signal 10847 Variant 104) was a parasitic airborne virus which took a foothold in the system of the infected by working down their race memory and accessing their ancestors' vocabulary, after which it broke down the host's cells until they were a puddle of DNA and slime. The virus would then move on to another host.
The virus was stored in the Amethyst Viral Containment Station before the station's destruction (AUDIO: The Lamentation Cipher) by the Daleks. (AUDIO: Patient Zero) It infected Robert Buchan on the fifth moon of the Indecisive Torrent and was identified at the Jolly Brewer by Charlotte Pollard, who took him to the Viyrans to be cured. The Obscurantist was then destroyed. (AUDIO: The Lamentation Cipher)
