The Ferutu were a mysterious race from an alternate universe. They invoked runes and magic to modify time itself.

History[[edit] | [edit source]]

The Ferutu came from an alternate history in which Gallifrey was destroyed shortly after Omega's mission to Qqaba by the return of the Machine, laden with fusion bombs. Without the Time Lords, the Ferutu took their place as the guardians of the Web of Time; unlike the Time Lords, who were content to observe and only interceded against major threats to the integrity of space-time, the Ferutu actively modified the universe to reflect their wishes. The Seventh Doctor briefly visited their universe, and declared it a utopia.

They entered the Doctor's timeline at the point at which the Machine departed, a remote colony of the Earth Empire. When the Machine failed to destroy Gallifrey as the result of the Seventh Doctor's tampering (against the wishes of the Fifth Doctor, who had been working on a way to allow both timelines to exist alongside one another), their timeline collapsed, except for a small number of prisoners shielded from the effects of the paradox. The Fifth Doctor was appalled by this and promised the remaining Ferutu he would try to undo it, but the Ferutu told him it was pointless to try as his future self would only work to prevent this. (PROSE: Cold Fusion)

A group of Ferutu invaded the Doctor's timeline (or at least Bernice Summerfield's timeline) again under the guise of the All-High Gods. (PROSE: Twilight of the Gods) During the War in Heaven, one Faction member's Faction Paradox mask was carved from the skull of one of the Ferutu. House Military soldier Dionus found the very sight of the mask to be an offence on his senses. (AUDIO: Eternal Escape)

Physical characteristics[[edit] | [edit source]]

Ferutu were generally human in appearance, but completely hairless, lacking even eyelashes. They had more angular features than most humanoids. They typically dressed in long black cloaks and high-collared tunics. (PROSE: Cold Fusion)

Abilities[[edit] | [edit source]]

The power of the Ferutu lay in their ability to slow, accelerate, stop, and manipulate time. They were nearly invincible in most forms of combat; they could simply freeze their opponents and strike with impunity. They also could choose to accelerate a pocket of time around foes, causing them to die of old age.

They could also exist outside of cause and effect, allowing them to reshape history at will.

The Ferutu were capable of powerful telekinesis, allowing them to hover over the ground and kill with a gesture. They could also pass through solid matter.

They invoked their powers through the usage of runes. The amount of power they could exert correlated to the number of Ferutu invoking the runes.

The runes were also the source of their only apparent weakness; they were vulnerable to those same runes, when used properly. (PROSE: Cold Fusion)
