In [[2167]], Tyler came across [[Susan Foreman]] on his way back to [[Tube station (The Dalek Invasion of Earth)|headquarters]] from spying on [[Helipad Chelsea]] and took her with him to safety, promising her and [[Barbara Wright]] that they would do the best they could to collect the [[First Doctor]] and [[Ian Chesterton]] as well. He informed [[Dortmun]] of the arrival of a [[Dalek flying saucer|flying saucer]] at the heliport and was initially sceptical of Dortmun's plan of attack. However, he was confident that Barbara's plan to pose as [[Roboman|Robomen]] and prisoners would work.


He was one of the few survivors of the attack. After the failed attack, he decided that [[London]] was too dangerous for them to remain, and stated he would look for more survivors and head north. Tyler, first name Carl or Jim, was a freedom fighter on Earth during the Daleks' 2150s invasion of Earth.
