The Siege of Saracassar was a battle fought during the Last Great Time War. The planet was of strategic interest to the warring Daleks and Time Lords due to it being a gateway to fifteen hidden galaxies. The Daleks won, with the entire population of Saracassar being wiped out by pulse waves. The battle was said to be so terrible those who were there lacked the words to describe how terrible it was.
As the battle raged, the War Master visited to see the sights. He encountered Lyric who begged him to rescue her and her sister. He offered her a choice to come with him without her sister or stay behind. Lyric reluctantly agreed, (AUDIO: The Scaramancer) however he subsequently tormented her by showing her her sister's death and other moments from the Siege. She eventually became numb to the pain, causing him to get bored of her and leave her on an ice planet. Lyric sought out fellow survivors of the Siege, (AUDIO: The Cognition Shift) but eventually turned to space piracy as "the Scaramancer". (AUDIO: The Scaramancer)
