Mandy Tanner was a twelve year old girl travelling aboard the Starship UK. She was friends with Timmy, and whilst she got good marks in a test, he got bad marks and was sent below. Mandy knew he was sent below due to his disappearance. She was being watched by The Doctor and Amy Pond from the Tardis, and later on in London Market. She left later, and Amy followed her, and Mandy confronted her saying, you're following me. She and Amy then found a hole in the road, and Mandy tried to warn her not to go in the tent above the hole. Amy went in and came back out in shock, then she was knocked out by the Winders. Mandy waited for her in the voting booth, and explained to the Doctor, who had just joined them, that everyone chooses to forget what they have learnt. When the Doctor pressed the Protest button, Mandy was locked outside, whilst Amy and the Doctor were dropping down a shoot, to the beast below. The queen then approached her in a mask and this scared Mandy, but she showed herself, and Mandy went with her to find the Doctor and Amy. They found her, and witnessed the queen shoot some Smilers. She was then taken to the tower of London with them all, and found Timmy. A part of the star whale then approached Mandy and Timmy, and was gentle with them. Amy then realised that the Star Whale volunteered for the job of taking the ship, due to it not wanting to see the children cry. She was noted by the Queen as being very brave (DW: The Beast Below).

Mandy Tanner was a twelve-year-old girl when the Eleventh Doctor and Amy Pond arrived aboard Starship UK. She was friends with Timmy, who received a zero on a test she did well in, and was sent "below".

When he didn't show up in London, Mandy deduced his fate, and cried silently in London Market. The Doctor and Amy watched from the TARDIS scanner. Mandy was subsequently followed by Amy, and, when she confronted her, she had to warn Amy not to enter a tent marked "KEEP OUT". During this time, she noted Amy's Scottish accent and informed her that Scotland had wanted their own ship rather than be a part of Starship UK.

Amy ignored her and came back in shock, then was knocked out by the Winders. Mandy waited for her outside the voting booth with the Doctor. When the Doctor pressed the Protest button, Mandy was locked outside, whilst Amy and the Doctor dropped down a chute to the star whale "below".

Queen Elizabeth X approached her in a mask, and Mandy joined her in collecting the Doctor and Amy. She was then taken to the Tower of London, where she was reunited with Timmy. A part of the star whale approached the two children, and was gentle with them. (TV: The Beast Below)
