Professor Farouk was a member of staff at St Oscar's University.

Biography[[edit] | [edit source]]

A member of the Mathematics department, Farouk went on the St Oscar's expedition to Perfecton in 2593 and found a puzzle in symbolic logic in the Perfecton city, which he argued with Ranjit Singh over. The two of them later worked out the function of the Perfecton gun that Menlove Stokes found and argued over the name of the phenomenon; whilst Singh suggested the Singh Farouk effect, Farouk preferred the Farouk Singh effect.

Farouk and Epstein weighed decorative items in their hands and fled from the Grel when Stokes told them to go. He was amazed when Thooo told them about the Green and wondered why he had not joined his people by shooting himself with a Green gun. He helped fight the Grel, tripping one up, and was rescued with the other academics by the Winton, restored by Bernice Summerfield. (PROSE: Oh No It Isn't!)

Farouk was later mentioned to be part of the Physics department. At Benny's request, he insisted that Malkovitch Fellows allow her to join his expedition to Canopus IV. Farouk and Singh "tor[e] their hair out" over the maths following the paradox of the Spire. (PROSE: Ghost Devices)

Personality[[edit] | [edit source]]

Farouk did not believe in ghosts. (PROSE: Oh No It Isn't!)

Appearance[[edit] | [edit source]]

Farouk was young, muscular and wore a turban. (PROSE: Oh No It Isn't!) However, Malkovitch Fellows described him as a "hawk-nosed old fossil". (PROSE: Ghost Devices)

Behind the scenes[[edit] | [edit source]]

Whilst Farouk is described as a young member of the Mathematics department in Oh No It Isn't!, he is an old man and a member of the Physics department in Ghost Devices and described similarly to how Singh was in Oh No It Isn't!.
