Madeleine Mortimer, also known as Maddie, was the wife of Henry Mortimer and mother of Mary and George.
Biography[[edit] | [edit source]]
Maddie married Henry Mortimer and lived with him at Hideaway, but the marriage was an unhappy one. They had two children, Mary and George, whom Maddie loved and believed that she would never leave. She had an affair with her lady's maid, Nicole, whom Henry dismissed after learning of their relationship.
In December 1936, a misunderstanding resulted in River Song becoming Maddie's new lady's maid. Whilst Maddie was initially hostile towards River, she ended up jumping in front of the blast of the echo gun when Henry tried to kill her, believing that they had been having an affair and were planning on killing him. She began ageing to death, but River was able to use the echo gun to keep her asleep in a locked bedroom until 2014.
River awoke Maddie to attend Harry Mortimer and Vinay Siddiqui's wedding to show her that her family would go on and that attitudes towards homosexual relationships would improve. After the ceremony, River took Maddie back to 1936 to spend her last moments with Mary and George before fading away. (AUDIO: Friend of the Family)
