The Krikkitas, also called Krikkiters, were the native species of the planet Krikkit.
History[[edit] | [edit source]]
Krikkit was encased in a dust cloud on the edge of Mutter's Spiral, so for most of their history the Krikkitas believed they were the only beings in the universe. When a rogue spacecraft crashlanded on Krikkit, the Krikkitas quickly reverse engineered the technology and travelled past the dust cloud. Upon discovering there was other life in the universe, they began a xenophobic mission to wipe out all other life in the universe, using deadly androids called Krikkitmen. The Krikkitmen spread out into the galaxy, beginning the Krikkit Wars. This lasted until the Time Lords finally interfered by locking Krikkit in a Slow Time Envelope that would keep the Krikkitas isolated and imprisoning the Krikkitmen on Shada.
Millenia later, a group of rogue Krikkitmen attempted to free Krikkit from the Slo-Time Envelope and continue their mission to kill all other life in the universe. The Fourth Doctor, Romana and K9 failed to stop them, so they decided to visit Krikkit to try to change the Krikkitas' minds. With the help of a group of rebels led by Jal, they were able to trick the Krikkitmen into destroying themselves. The Doctor discovered the entire Krikkit War was engineered by a bored supercomputer called Hactar and the First Great War TARDIS. The Doctor disabled Hactar and used his Supernova Bomb to disperse the dust cloud. With the Krikkitmen destroyed and the dust cloud gone, the Krikkitas began to become accustomed to other life in the universe. Behind the scenes[[edit] | [edit source]]
- In Douglas Adams's original drafts for The Krikkitmen, the inhabitants of the planet Krikkit were called "Krikkitas". This is the name James Goss used in the novelisation of that script. When Adams adapted the Krikkit story arc for The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy instead, he used the name "Krikkiter" instead.
