Echoes of Future Past was a Brief Encounter short story published in DWM 181. It tries to explain the First Doctor's involvement with the Hand of Omega as a gambit by the Seventh Doctor, creating an ontological paradox.

Plot[[edit] | [edit source]]

The First Doctor, walking to take Susan home from school, bumps into the Seventh Doctor, who was waiting in a dark street. The Seventh Doctor gives him the Hand of Omega, claiming that it "knows what to do", and leaves without giving any other information about himself, leaving the First Doctor confused.
