Lieutenant George Lee "Phones" Sheridan was a crewmember aboard the W.A.S.P. vessel Stingray. (COMIC: Impasse)

Biography[[edit] | [edit source]]

In early 2065, while Marineville was being bombarded by Strike Aircraft piloted by some of their own men who had fallen under the control of Titan, Commander Shore told a reporter for TV Century 21 he could hold off on offensive measures for only another two hours in the hope that Stingray could resolve the situation. However, he accepted this possibility was remote as the continued radio silence from Troy Tempest and his crew likely indicated they were themselves in deadly peril. (PROSE: Marineville Waits!) In the time leading up to the assault on Marineville, Stingray had been attacked by a Titan Terror Fish (PROSE: Stingray Attacked!) and trapped in an undersea cavern by Titan's jellyfish. (PROSE: Titan Declares War!)

While lying in wait with Troy Tempest for another of the mysterious alien machines to appear in April 2065, he was interviewed by Doug Brogan for TV 21 about them and the Brazilian jungle crisis in general. He said "I can only describe the machine as looking something like a monster lobster! If it hadn't been for the strength and power of the U.S. Junglecat, I reckon we would have all had it. This time we're up against a real threat ... let's hope Stingray can come through okay." (PROSE: Stingray Hunts Aliens)

When Tempest went missing on active service during his search for the kidnapped Atlanta Shore, Phones radioed Marineville to tell them that he had last been seen heading for Titanica but had heard nothing since. (PROSE: Tempest Awarded V.M.) Marineville later received word from Phones whilst he was aboard Stingray that he was about to engage a Titan Terror Fish in combat. Commander Shore endorsed this action. (COMIC: Duel of the Daleks) Phones reported that the Titan Terror Fish he had been following seriously damaged Stingray (PROSE: Stingray Searches) but was fully operational sometime afterwards and that he was continuing his search for Troy and Atlanta (COMIC: The Amaryll Challenge) in a coral island area in Titan's territory. (PROSE: Stingray Searches)

In July 2065, in reference to their "Ghost Hunting" mission at Tracking Station 17, Senator Jack Marasel of France accused "Shore and his boys" of "gaily galavanting around some island looking for ghosts". Senator Adrinnikof of Russia defended Stingray but the debate was ultimately adjourned until the next day. (PROSE: Civil War) Phones reported explosions from the control room of the station (PROSE: Spaceship S.O.S.) and later sent an "excited" radio message to report the ship's sighting of a ghostly galleon nearby. (PROSE: Peaceful Thals Ambushed!) When Tempest went missing after investigating this ghost galleon, Phones and Commander Shore were said to be taking action. (PROSE: Bullion Train)

In 2066, a bathyscaphe searching Area 13 for Stingray reported that Phones had been picked up and was recovering but that no contact had yet been established with the submarine itself. (COMIC: Impasse)

In July 2066, Phones and Troy inflitrated the pirate organisation which had been attacking shipping in the South China Sea. With rumours suggesting the duo's capture rife, Commander Shore, in personal command of Stingray, continued to comb every inch of the area, desperately awaiting a signal that would give cause to send the submarine to investigate. (PROSE: "Come In, Tempest")

In November 2066, prompt action from Phones resulted in the Hood, who had been responsible for Stingray's recent misadventures through sabotage, failing in his bid to destroy the leading envoys of the world's navies at the Battle of Hastings millennium celebrations. (PROSE: Disaster!)

Behind the scenes[[edit] | [edit source]]

Phones originated from the television series Stingray where he was voiced by Robert Easton. In Big Finish Productions' series of audio stories, Phones was voiced by Wayne Forrester.
