Thanks for your recent edits! I'm Jimbo, your robot wiki representative! We hope you'll keep on editing with us. This is actually a great time to have joined, because we're now fully independent, and working on a host of new features!
We've got a couple of important quirks for a fan written wiki, so let's get them out of the way first.
British English, please
We generally use British English 'round these parts, so if you use another form of English, please be sure you set your spell checker to BrEng, and take a gander at our spelling cheat card.
Spoilers aren't cool
We have a strict definition of "spoiler" that you may find a bit unusual. Basically, a spoiler, to us, is anything that comes from a story which has not been released yet. So, even if you've got some info from a BBC press release or official trailer, it basically can't be referenced here. In other words, you gotta wait until the episode has finished its premiere broadcast to start editing about its contents. Please check the spoiler policy for more details.
Other useful stuff
Aside from those two things, we also have some pages that you should probably read when you get a chance, like:
- the listing of all our help, policy and guideline pages
- our Manual of Style
- our image use policy
- our user page policy
If you're brand new to wiki editing — and we all were, once! — you probably want to check out these tutorials at Wikipedia, the world's largest wiki:
Remember that you should always sign your comments on talk and vote pages using four tildes like this:Thanks for becoming a member of the TARDIS crew! If you have any questions, see the Help pages, add a question to one of the Forums or ask an admin.
Locking user page[[edit source]]
The ability to lock/protect pages from editing lies with administrators, and is usually reserved only for pages that have been vandalised or subject to edit wars. I've checked the edit history for your user page and I don't see any recent issues in that regard - unless you're referring to another page. The only reason my user page is locked is because being an admin with a number in my name, I tend to get listed first and from past experience as an admin on Wikipedia I find that sometimes attracts vandals. That said, I know more senior admins frown upon it, so I've actually been meaning to remove the block (which I'll do after I finished this message). Anyway, if you want a page locked down, you need to request it from an administrator such as myself, or Tangerineduel, but just based on the current edit history for your user page, I don't see cause. 23skidoo 21:25, February 18, 2010 (UTC)
Amy Pond and Season 5[[edit source]]
The Amy-as-alien thing didn't come from me - it was from DWIN, which posted it in their news blog as a joke and other media took it seriously. As for Series 5, it starts at Easter 2010 (meaning April 3 as the show airs on Saturday) according to the BBC's trailer, so they have the final word. 23skidoo 20:27, February 25, 2010 (UTC)
- The start dates have been all over the place. The IMDb is wrong. The BBC officially has said Easter, so that's the start of April. BBC America just announced April 17 for the US.[1] If you go here, you can see the new trailer (if by chance the video won't play in your area, you can probably find it on YouTube). It's supposed to be seen in 3-D in theatres which is why it looks a bit odd. Thanks for the comments on the other Wiki pages. 23skidoo 00:32, February 26, 2010 (UTC)
- Well now we know she isn't an alien. [User:Trikster87|Trikster87]] 16:12, November 29, 2009 (UTC)
2089[[edit source]]
I think you're asking about one of 23skidoo's edits to the page 2089. I'm listed as editing the section he created because I was changing the categories at the bottom as part of a project to clean-up the Timeline categories. I haven't even gotten around to watching The Waters of Mars yet. --Nyktimos 21:31, February 26, 2010 (UTC)
- What were you asking about? 23skidoo 14:00, March 1, 2010 (UTC)
Freema image[[edit source]]
If it's got a watermark on it, don't upload it to Wikia. Although Wikia's image rules aren't as strict as those used by Wikipedia, if someone has a claim of ownership over an image, by way of a watermark or a copyright notice, we can't use it. 23skidoo 14:00, March 1, 2010 (UTC)
Sidebar[[edit source]]
Just admins, as editing it (and other pages that start with mediawiki) affect integral parts of the wiki. You can either state what you think needs changing to me (or the other admins), add it to one of the forum topics focused on the sidebar (the most recent I think is Forum:Sidebar Order? What should be in the sidebar???) or start another forum topic to engage the community. Hope this helps. --Tangerineduel 14:02, March 2, 2010 (UTC)
Move, don't delete and recreate[[edit source]]
When you move a page, you carry its history. When you do as you did, you lose all of the history. Don't erase all of the details on a page and then recreate it elsewhere. Ever. -- sulfur 20:30, March 6, 2010 (UTC)
As noted on my talk page, you should have used the "MOVE" command. Next time you pull that track, use that command instead. -- sulfur 00:10, March 7, 2010 (UTC)
- Seconded, it also means that admins have to go back and delete, recreate and merge the histories of the two pages. --Tangerineduel 14:44, March 7, 2010 (UTC)
Becoming an admin[[edit source]]
I'm not involved in that process. I suggest you ask Tangerineduel. Cheers. 23skidoo 12:51, April 6, 2010 (UTC)
User TomMilligan[[edit source]]
Don't expect a reply from User:TomMilligan on anything but his talk page, the user has been blocked for 3 months. --Tangerineduel 16:49, April 7, 2010 (UTC)

New Doctor Who Wiki?[[edit source]]
Why do you want to make a wiki specificily based on one Series of Doctor Who when all info about Series 5 is on here? --MrThermomanPreacher 16:05, April 29, 2010 (UTC)
- It's somewhat splitting of resources creating another Doctor Who wiki, that only focuses on one series.
- A wiki lives or dies on its contributors, rather than the person who started the wiki. People come to wikis looking for information and then contribute because they can add something that isn't written or want to add to a growing body of knowledge.
- Creating a wiki based on one series has a huge amount of issues, for starters all the information that backs up that series is outside the purview of 'Series 5', even the term 'Series 5' would be outside of what the wiki is set up to deal with, technically speaking you wouldn't be able to go into as much detail about the other (or future) series as Series 5.
- I'm sorry if I sound critical, but I really believe in creating a good encyclopaedia about the Doctor Who universe (and all the media that forms said universe), this diversification of it just seems somewhat counter-productive. As I said above a wiki isn't one person it's a collection of people working on a project, a project needs certain guide lines, policies and things like that to keep the project going in the face of vandals and whatever else.
- Another thing that, when creating a wiki to respect is content and its sources (and licencing), I had a quick look at your Torchwood wiki. On the occasion when on this wiki we've used content from Wikipedia we add the Template:Wikipedia to the page to acknowledge the page's information source. I would like to think that the contributors to the Weevil page would like their contributions acknowledge with a link back to this wiki's page See also W:Community Central:Licensing.
- I'll decline your offer to edit. The things I do on this wiki keep me occupied more often than not. Good luck with your future endeavours. --Tangerineduel 17:06, April 29, 2010 (UTC)

Christmas cheer[[edit source]]
As this fiftieth anniversary year comes to a close, we here at Tardis just want to thank you for being a part of our community — even if you haven't edited here in a while. If you have edited with us this year, then thanks for all your hard work.
This year has seen an impressive amount of growth. We've added about 11,000 pages this year, which is frankly incredible for a wiki this big. November was predictably one of the busiest months we've ever had: over 500 unique editors pitched in. It was the highest number of editors in wiki history for a year in which only one programme in the DWU was active. And our viewing stats have been through the roof. We've averaged well over 2 million page views each week for the last two months, with some weeks seeing over 4 million views!
We've received an unprecedented level of support from Wikia Staff, resulting in all sorts of new goodies and productive new relationships. And we've recently decided to lift almost every block we've ever made so as to allow most everyone a second chance to be part of our community.
2014 promises to build on this year's foundations, especially since we've got a full, unbroken series coming up — something that hasn't happened since 2011. We hope you'll stick with us — or return to the Tardis — so that you can be a part of the fun!
