- You may be looking for the untitled Fireball XL5 comic story from TV21 105 or something else.
The first of two otherwise untitled Fireball XL5 comics printed in TV Century 21's annual for 1966 contained elements from the Doctor Who universe.
The DWU character of Nikita Bandranaik featured prominently in the narrative, as did the location of Unity City, first introduced in The Daleks comic story Duel of the Daleks. Notably, it was Bandranaik's decision whether or not to use a chain reaction explosion to prevent the planet P7 from colliding with Saturn, with both choices having the potential to end in the destruction of the solar system.
Summary[[edit]]
to be added
Characters[[edit]]
- Steve Zodiac
- Professor Matic
- Commander Zero
- Nikita Bandranaik
- Astronomer
- Scientist
- Policeman
- Criminal
Worldbuilding[[edit]]
- Astronomers at Space Observatory M calculate P7 to be eleven thousand miles in diameter and predict it will collide with Saturn in one month.
- The chain reaction explosion is an atomic-cahelium bomb which explodes every atom of matter it comes into contact with. One of the top scientists at Unity City believes that causing such an explosion would be suicide.
- The Milky Way contains a thousand million stars.
- Commander Zero attempts to arrest Zodiac and after they complete their mission both he and Matic ponder the fact they will be returning to a court martial.
Story notes[[edit]]
- The first two panels of this story depicted the planet P7 breaking from its orbit in the year 1131, thus making this one of the few stories printed in TV Century 21 with parts set outside of the 1960s or 2060s.
Continuity[[edit]]
- Steve Zodiac had previously visited Nikita Bandranaik's office in Unity City during the Space War crisis with Astra. (COMIC: Ceasefire — But War Tension Mounts..., President Offers Peace...)
- World President Nikita Bandranaik again authorises the use of the planetomic missiles kept at Space City, though in this case they have no effect. (COMIC: Solar Danger)
