Ethan was one of the last remaining humans at the tail end of the Cyber-Wars. (TV: Ascension of the Cybermen)

Ethan was born during the war. His father taught him to hack Cybermen ships from the time he was four years old.
He ended up on a planet with the last few other remaining human refugees and was rescued by the Doctor. His Cybership hacking and piloting skills helped them to escape and reach Ko Sharmus ahead of the Cyberman Ashad. (TV: Ascension of the Cybermen)
