Behind the scenes[[edit] | [edit source]]

This story depicts Lancasters carrying out a bombing mission in December 1941. Although Lancasters had entered RAF service in September 1941, their first operational mission was a mine laying sortie in the Heligoland Blight, carried out by aircraft from 41 Squadron on 3 March 1942.
