Godfather Sisyphus was considered a criminal by Faction Paradox, trapped away in their Boulevard of Alternate Brutalities.
He tricked someone into purchasing The Book of the War from Sister-in-Waiting Annie on eBay, who would go on to use the book in a ritual to turn Sisyphus into a conceptual entity, merging him with the Greek myth of Sisyphus. For his transgressions both he and the patsy he tricked were locked away in the Boulevard, inside a resetting time loop - no matter what the latter did the pair would never escape.
