The Melkene were a species capable of creating very advanced artificial beings.
Around the 16th century, the Melkenes were at war with another species and losing badly. Their soldiers were too predictable, so they created the Serial G, robots who had no moral safeguards. Though they won, the cost was so great that it was considered a war crime. When the Melkene tried to recall the Serial G, they fought back, wiping out the Melkene in six weeks. (PROSE: Border Princes)
