"The Beast Below" was a musical piece composed by Murray Gold.
It was first used in the Series 5 episode The Beast Below (which it is named after) where the Eleventh Doctor and Amy Pond fall through a rubbish dump which they later find out was the mouth of a star whale.
The piece was used in several next time trailers throughout series 5 to 8 such as The God Complex in series 6, The Angels Take Manhattan and The Crimson Horror, both in series 7 and was last featured in the next time trailer for Into the Dalek in series 8.
Several variants of the piece were used in The Adventure Games throughout all of series 1.
The piece is featured in Murray Gold's Doctor Who: Series 5 soundtrack, but at least 24 seconds of the track weren't included. The removed portion can be heard in GAME: City of the Daleks [+]Loading...["City of the Daleks (video game)"], TARDIS [+]Loading...["TARDIS (video game)","TARDIS"], and TV: Night Terrors [+]Loading...["Night Terrors (TV story)"].
