Proposed merger

It has been proposed that this page be merged with The Sirens of Time (audio story).

Overall, I think it's best for this release to have a separate page. This is more than a rerelease with a new cover, the entire story has been reedited and rescored. There is plenty of information on this page that distinguishes it from the the original release: Info on the Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum; info on the new production and release; and the differences between versions. Moving all that info on the The Sirens of Time page would make that page too crowded.

Even the Big Finish website sorts this release into the Classic Series - Special Releases section instead of the Main Range section. LegoK9 ☎ 20:19, 15 December 2024 (UTC)

But you could say the same thing about animated recons and Special Editions, which we cover on the main page as a specific section, using {{cite source}}'s relevant functionalities if we want to link to that specific version. --Scrooge MacDuck ☎ 20:52, 15 December 2024 (UTC)

Agreed that they should stay separate - this is similar to The Daleks in Colour (TV story) in that is is complete re-make of the entire post-production process - in some aspects even more re-doing than that since they used the original raw recordings in this one. Music, sound effects, editing, ordering of scenes, it's all completely different and remade from scratch to create something new. This is different to the likes of the Special Editions because those are still almost entirely the same product just with a couple aspects touched up, the majority of post-production choices remain identical. Animations meanwhile while the visuals have been replaced the audio track is kept identical and scene editing/ordering remains the same. While I could potentially be persuaded of there being a merge case in certain circumstances, it is just as worthy of Daleks in Colour of having its own page - I would only support this merge in the event Daleks in Colour also got merged (and the idea either page getting merged being a good thing would take quite some convincing for me to support). But since that isn't the case, Daleks in Colour exists, I believe this page should stay separate. Warrior2852 ☎ 21:07, 15 December 2024 (UTC)

The publisher's summary is the same, the plot section could easily be exactly the same but chopped and changed, the cast is the same, many of the points in the notes section aren't exclusive to this version... They should be merged. Jack ☎ 09:07, 17 December 2024 (UTC)

Again, much of the same applies to The Daleks in Colour - same overall plot, same cast, and while the notes section here could do with some tidying up and rearranging if you use just points relevant to this version and format them better you end up with something similar to what TDiC has on its page.
