  • This annual shows more attention to the details of the TV series than previous editions. The Doctor is still referred to as "Dr Who", but less frequently and not in all stories. He is also identified as a Time Lord from Gallifrey and uses his sonic screwdriver.
  • Some illustrations are provided by Edgar Hodges.
  • The photographic cover uses two publicity shots of the Third Doctor, the larger one evidently taken during location filming for Planet of the Daleks.
  • Curiously, two different stories with the same title, The Time Thief, appear in two consecutive annuals, the previous year's in comics form, this year's in prose form.
