William Lucas (14 April 1925-8 July 2016[1]) played Range in the Doctor Who television story Frontios.
He had earlier been considered to play Dr Fendelman in Image of the Fendahl, (INFO: Image of the Fendahl) Richard Mace in The Visitation, (TCH 35) both Captain Stapley and Professor Hayter in Time-Flight, (TCH 35) and Hedin in Arc of Infinity. (TCH 36)

He is best known for playing Dr. James Gordon on The Adventures of Black Beauty (1972-74), and later appeared as Dr. Gordon in the first series of its sequel, The New Adventures of Black Beauty (1990-92).
