War of the Words was a Fourth Doctor comic strip published in Doctor Who Magazine.

Summary[[edit] | [edit source]]

For 47.63 years the Vromyx and the Garynth have been at war for possession of the super-weapon data thought to be contained on the library planet Biblios. Although the robot librarians of Biblios have repeatedly told the Vromyx and Garynth that the library has no data on weapons, the warring species refuse to end their war or move it elsewhere.

Because of the ferocity of the war, no one has visited Biblios for years until the Fourth Doctor and K9 arrive on the planet. Once he learns of the situation, the Doctor contacts the Vromyx and Garynth and tells them he is a powerful warlord who has passed easily through their blockade and gained access to Biblios' super-weapon data. The Doctor blows up the building alleged to house the data. He tells the Vromyx and Garynth that he will be the only one to ever have it.

Thinking the weapons data destroyed, the warring sides have nothing left to fight for and promptly leave the orbit of Biblios. However, the Doctor has deceived them by blowing up an empty storage building. When one of the robot librarians wonders why the Vromyx and Garynth believed the Doctor and not the robots who had told the truth, the Doctor replies, "Well, you know... 'actions speak louder than words'! Especially actions that make a very large 'boomf'!"
