The Burner Doctor had to leave Gallifrey after challenging the Time Lord policy of non-intervention, where he faced erasure from the timeline by his brother Braxiatel. Braxiatel was killed by the Doctor, who then adopted that title, stole a TARDIS and fled Gallifrey to challenge the Time Lords' right to rewrite history.

During his sixth incarnation, The Doctor was captured by the Time Lords and put on trial, the outcome of which resulted in his reintegration into Time Lord society. By the time President Romana came to power, the Doctor had adopted the title "Lord Burner" and the role of the the President's personal temporal assassin who "burned" people from history; a role previously held by Braxiatel.

After meeting an alternate version of his brother Irving Braxiatel, the Burner Doctor attempted to assassinate him on the Axis. During the fight they fell into one of the Axis's portals with no set co-ordinates; drifting through the timelines until they found their way into one. Whilst Braxiatel eventually found himself back in the Prime Timeline the fate of the Burner Doctor is unknown. (BFG: Disassembled)

The Burner Doctor was a version of the Doctor who existed in an alternative timeline. He served as the Lord Burner under President Romana. (AUDIO: Disassembled [+]Loading...["Disassembled (audio story)"])

Biography[[edit] | [edit source]]

The Lord Burner spoke about his personal history while deceiving the primary timeline version of Romana II. After Romana expressed approval for the ideology of the non-interventionists – who were, on this Gallifrey, a niche group – the Lord Burner claimed he had once traveled the universe attempting to undo the Time Lords’ interventions. Supposedly he did this under the name of the Doctor, though it was unclear if he recognised the name when Romana initially addressed him this way.

The Lord Burner allowed Romana to assume that he had been put on trial by the Time Lords. He later claimed that he was at imminent risk of being arrested for opposing the President's policies, which was completely false.

At some point far in his past, the Lord Burner killed his version of Braxiatel. He described the experience as "a moment of pleasure". The Lord Burner also attempted to kill the primary timeline version of Braxiatel when they met on the Axis. Braxiatel threw them both into a portal without any set coordinates, trapping them in the vortex between realities. Braxiatel eventually escaped the vortex but the Lord Burner's fate remained unknown, (AUDIO: Disassembled [+]Loading...["Disassembled (audio story)"]) with Braxiatel fearing he had been let loose on another Gallifrey. (AUDIO: The Questing Beast [+]Loading...["The Questing Beast (audio story)"])

Behind the scenes[[edit] | [edit source]]

 • The idea for the Burner Doctor was to explore a Doctor who had been placed on trial by his people, as in The War Games, but with different results by Time Lords with very different values. (BFX: Gallifrey IV)
