Unless the dialogue of this "episode" refers specifically to a "Cyber-Lord", then this character can't be identified as such. We can't get into the habit of saying "this thing looks like this other thing, so therefore it must be the same thing as the other thing". These aren't Pete's World Cybermen, as were the only televised Cybermen to have a "Cyber-Lord". You can't actually say for certain that these aren't Pete's World Cybermen either. Granted we don't know the origin of these Cybermen but that's not to say the simple answer isn't the correct one. It is likely that these Cybermen will not be picked up on again - not much expanded universe stuff ever is. --User:TheCoud'veBeenKing/Talk
It was referred to as "Lord" by Elizabeth Meadows and not anything else. Also, I'm sure the production team wouldn't intend for it to be anything else? What's more, how do we know they're not the Cybus Cybermen? Sure there are different things that look similar, but to that degree? TheCoud'veBeenKing
:So which is it? Called that by the Doctor, or just called "Lord" by Meadows? And why wouldn't the production team intend it to be something else? After all, they've just given us Cybermen that look like Pete's World Cybermen but have been definitively called the Cybermen from this universe by the director in the director's commentary. The production team are monetarily locked into using basically the same costumes, but it's clear they're trying to get back to the Cybermen of this universe. 16:54:55 Tue 14 Jun 2011 </span>
:Yes, that is clear. Now were on two types of Cybermen we're not clear about. Things would be easier if we had an episode which focused on the return of the Mondas Cybermen, like Victory of the Daleks did for the restoration of the Daleks. But until then, I think Cyber-Lord should stay. After all, why else would someone refer to it a "lord" if it was just a Cyber Leader? That didn't happen with any Mondas Cyber Leaders. Also, I don't remember the Cyber-Lord in The Next Doctor being referred to as such through dialogue (unless I missed something, tell me if I'm wrong), so if we go mostly on dialogue, this Cyber-Lord is more a Cyber-lord than what we definitely know is a Cyber-Lord.90.200.188.121 11:42, June 25, 2011 (UTC) |

Thus we can't use "Pete's World terms" to describe him, unless the dialogue (or, in a pinch, credits) give us specific license to do so.
