Korlano Beta was a planet where mining took place. It was seen as beneficial if a sandstorm occurred as this would bring minerals to the surface.

The Fourth Doctor mentioned he had seen "moving mines" similar to Storm Mine 4 on Korlano Beta, presumably during an unrecorded adventure. (TV: The Robots of Death)
