Writing in Green was the ninth story in the Bernice Summerfield anthology Something Changed. It was written by Dave Hoskin.

Jason Kane asks Hass to help him make a valentines present. So they make a Garden for Bernice Summerfield. On completion Benny and Jason start a new life, with a child of their own, Accacia.

- Hass uses sonic shears when gardening.
- On Earth the acacia tree symbolises the future, while on Mars it symbolises children, as well as fire, plague, and unexpected violence.
- On Mars, Marigolds were ground into a tea that cured toothache.
- Martians wear red willow to ward off evil.
