Korving was an archaeologist in a time after the cybermen became extinct during the war against Golgoth. He had a student named Joy who helped him. (DWM: The Cybermen: The Ugly Underneath)
Biography
At one time, Korving and Joy were headed to the ruins of what used to be Cyber-Control, which was inhabited by the Cult of C'Iva, and questioned their high priest at gunpoint in order to discover what happened to Golgoth's Son and if he could save Mondas and its inhabitants.
As Mondas slowly makes it way back to earth, Korving, the only presumed survivor, accidentally falls into the Cybermen conversion machinery, becoming a Cyberman and the first one since after the war against Golgoth.
