Professor Rayner was a scientist who, with his assistant Carradine, grew tropical plants at the Carradine Estate, and eventually discovered the secret of controlling plant life. Rayner created the Master Plant, with which he hoped to rule. After capturing the Third Doctor and Dave Lester, he fed the plant more of his potion, after which the plant turned on him and killed him. (TVA: The Plant Master)
