Professor Pardek was the genius behind the flight of the spaceship Solaros 10’s attempt to travel faster than the speed of light. It wasn’t a total success as Parsec got caught in the blast of the solar stacks and, in an energy transfer, was mutated into a kind of “neoform reptilioplas”. The Doctor’s timely intervention saw the effects reversed, the ship stabilised and Parsec and the pilot Sorben both saved. (DWA: Faster Than Light)
