Black Orchid was a book of his travels written by George Cranleigh. It was published in 1925. His mother, Madge Cranleigh, gave a copy to the Fifth Doctor as a going-away present (DW: Black Orchid), which he enjoyed and thought of as very interesting. (DW: Earthshock)

A specially published edition of Black Orchid was included in the vast halls of the Library of the 51st century. (DW: Silence in the Library)
