The Mahalta was a species of powerful predators. They were bulldog-like in appearance, but the size of a Shetland pony.
The Mahalta was known to Captain Jack Harkness and encountered by Torchwood Three. It was one of the species found on the Vandrogonite Visualiser dug up in Rhiwbina. When Gareth Portland created MonstaQuest, he used the Mahalta as a monster, renaming it "Antebellum". When Gwen Cooper was trying to find him, he created a Mahalta to distract her, though she was easily able to kill it. (PROSE: Pack Animals)
