Founded in 1872, Aberystwyth University (known officially as the University Of Wales, Aberystwyth until 2007) was the first university established in Wales, in the town of Aberystwyth on the west coast.

In the early 21st Century, the university hosted a talk entitled "Black holes and the Uncertainty Principle". Gwen Cooper went to the talk upon finding out that Eugene Jones had planned to go before his death.
