Julius Schäfer was a the a high Ranking officer placed at Colditz castle. He sympathised with the prisoners, bringing in equipment so that they could escape. One prisoner Bill Gower was a special favourite of his, and managed to get many items for his escape programmes. (BFA:Colditz)
