Revision as of 20:47, 27 July 2012

This page is only for discussing the editing of our main page.

If you want to talk about anything else, your best bet is to start a new thread in one of our forums.

  • Questions about editing, policy or wiki organisation are best laid before the Panopticon.
  • Questions about a single narrative or behind-the-scenes point — where that answer is likely a known fact, like "Who played <role> in <story>?" or "In which issues of DWM will you not find comics?" — are best put to the reference desk
  • If you want to speculate about future episodes, and don't mind being spoiled, go to the Howling.

False Randomiser

The randomiser is fake. It only shows a Spearhead from Space (Doctor Who), the Middle Men (Torchwood), The Nightmare Man (SJA) And one that I've forgotten the name of (K9TV). I reloaded the page and it still showed those four. Get it sorted out. 94.9.14.99talk to me 18:15, May 21, 2012 (UTC)

It works for me, with different stories every time I reload the page. Try clearing your cache. —Josiah Rowe talk to me 18:20, May 21, 2012 (UTC)

Yeah, I noticed that I was wrong. Sorry about that. 94.9.14.99talk to me 20:36, May 21, 2012 (UTC)

In Other Languages Section

I looked through this section and I found that one of the Wiki's listed has never been created and another has been deleted. Also the German Doctor Who Wiki has surpassed 10 pages and needs to be moved across to the other list. I think that the section should be changed so that it no longer consists of two separate lists of Wiki's. Thanks, Ryan0ry talk to me 20:53, July 15, 2012 (UTC)

It helps with the formatting of the page to have the two sections. The fact of having to occasionally move them around manually alerts us when wikis are growing. I think you'll find that the actual German wiki — that is, the one at w:c:de.doctorwho hasn't actually grown. You may be talking about what the following poster is referring to.

Hi, there is a new german who-wiki with 692 articles: http://de.doctorwhotorchwood.wikia.com/wiki/Doctor_Who_Torchwood_Wiki , greetings,--Scott Eccles talk to me 22:45, July 10, 2012 (UTC)

Due to the technical intricacies of interlanguage linkage, we can only support one wiki per language. When we make a link like [[de:Doctor Who]], it will go to w:c:de.doctorwho:Doctor Who. It cannot go to w:c:de.doctorwhotorchwood:Doctor Who. You must move to w:c:de.doctorwho for us to be able to feature you on our main page — but more importantly, for us to actually make easy links to your wiki.
Since w:c:<language code>:doctorwho is the standard nomenclature for Doctor Who wikis at Wikia (yes, even this wiki is actually w:c:doctorwho), we can't support wikis that have another nomenclature.
If you want your wiki linked with us, please allow us to work with Wikia to merge w:c:de.doctorwhotorchwood with the now-dead w:c:de.doctorwho. It's important that we approach things this way, because there are many links all across Wikia to the handful of articles at the present form of w:c:de.doctorwho.
Please let me know whether I can start working with Wikia to accomplish that move, and you'll soon be the "main" German Doctor Who wiki at Wikia!
