In case you're new to the wiki, we use British English in the main namespace of this wiki. If you're not British, you may need some help with British spelling. Thus, we've created a number of help files to get you on the road toward British spelling.
Please check out the following documents:
- our spelling policy
- our spelling "cheat card", a quick overview of the most common words that are spelt differently in British English
- Help:Spell checking with a Mac tells you how to get a British dictionary in the Dictionary app, and how to get global British spelling on your machine. This guide naturally sets up spell checking in Safari.
- Help:Spell checking with Firefox
- Help:Spell checking with Chrome
- Help:Spell checking with Opera
Note that we don't give advice on how to spell check in Internet Explorer, because this wiki's administrative staff cannot support Internet Explorer, since the majority of the staff use Macs. We also would not support IE, since it has less than 20% market share. And it sucks.
