Chris Hardwick is an American entertainer who has partially used his influence with the American media to raise the profile of Doctor Who in the United States. A frequent guest on The Late Late Show, he has helped host Craig Ferguson contextualise Doctor Who for the CBS audience.
The host of The Nerdist Podcast, and its television version on BBC America, since its inception in 2010, he has interviewed guests such as Matt Smith, David Tennant and John Barrowman. His relationship with BBC America has also made him the "face" of the network at some American events, such as Comic-Con, where he has served as moderator of several Doctor Who panels. He has also appeared in several BBCA-made documentaries about Doctor Who, and has made several BBCA commercials for Doctor Who, including the main ad for the newtoWHO campaign.
