It was rare in that it was written from an in-universe perspective, being meant to be the actual in-universe book Melody Malone - The Angels Kiss, a feat preciously done by PROSE: A Journal of Impossible Things and PROSE: Who Killed Kennedy. It was also a partial-adaptation on the TV story The Angels Take Manhattan, making Angels the most recently made story to be adapted to a novel sense Doctor Who became Doctor Who - The Novel of the Film.
