Commander Lee Forbes was leader of the Ares One mission to Mars. Upon arrival, he decided to investigate first himself and discovered a green shell-like structure. Along with the Fifth Doctor whom he had met, they discovered a tomb, which held Izdaal's body and his guardians frozen in ice.

After the guardians became unfrozen, he was distraught when his pilot, Susan Roberts, was killed by one of the tomb's traps. He prayed for her survival and blamed himself for her suffering. (AUDIO: Red Dawn)
