Metebelis III is a planet in the Acteon Galaxy. One of the unusual features of the planet is its blue moon that causes the whole planet to have a blue tint at night. It has a wide variety of habitats, such as thick forest, snowy mountains and dry plains. Metebelis III has giant versions of snakes and birds and a sentient species. (DW: The Green Death) One of the odd occurrences of Metebelis III is the Blue Crystals, which can increase mental powers. (DW: Planet of the Spiders) The Third Doctor has attempted to reach Metebelis III several times, eventually suceeding and meeting some of the native wildlife. (DW: The Green Death)

When mentioned in The Green Death, Metebelis III is located in the Acteon Cluster. This may be a location within the Acteon Galaxy or it may be another term for it.

At some point in the far future, the human discovered the planet and crash landed there. The humans and sheep survived the trip, as did some spiders. They were then mutated by the Blue Crystals, causing them to grow to enormous size and to develop telepathic powers. They enslaved the native humans, and attempted to gather all the Blue Crystals in order to take over the universe. The Doctor's encounter with the Metebelis III Spiders and the Great One led to radiation poisoning which led to his regeneration into the Fourth Doctor. (DW: Planet of the Spiders)
