Theme music refers to two specific types of music. Often, it is the music played over the opening and closing titles of an episode. It can also be a leitmotif, or theme played to identify a character, situation or a race. Though leitmotifs were very occasionally used during the 1963 version of the Doctor Who, they have become considerably more common in the BBC Wales Whoniverse.
